Biosketch
On October 1, 2004, Michael A. Burleson assumed the position of Executive Director of the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy. Mr. Burleson is a 1974 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. Prior to assuming his position with the Board, Mr. Burleson was a pharmacy manager with Walgreen's. He was also a pharmacy owner for 19 years in Henderson, KY. He has previously been employed with Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Methodist Hospital, and Rite-Aid Pharmacy. Michael served on the Henderson County Board of Education from July 1988 through November 2002. He was a founder and served on HOPE, Inc., Hendersonians Offering a Promising Environment (formerly CHOICE - Caring Hendersonians Offering Informed Community Enlightenment, and Henderson County War on Drugs) from 1983 through October 2002. Programs initiated by this group included "Just Say No" programs, Parent to Parent, Project Graduation, Teen Court and a coffee house. Michael was and continues to be involved in the University of Kentucky Alumni Association starting as a local board member and president of the UK-Henderson County Alumni Association, National Board of Directors and President of the National Alumni Association 1994 - 95. He is a past president of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy Alumni Association and has served on various committees including the Dean's advisory, outreach, interviews and admissions committees. He has also been involved with KPhA, as a committee member and served two terms on the Board of Directors. He served as secretary-treasurer for the Tri County Pharmacists Association (Henderson, Union and Webster County) for many years. He and his wife, Cheryl, reside in Lexington, Kentucky.
