This
Quality Care Curriculum developed by the Core Curriculum Subcommittee of the GMEC at the University of Kentucky is designed to provide learning opportunities to facilitate attainment of the Institute of Medicine recommended competencies for health professions. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) core competencies of patient care, medical knowledge, professionalism, interpersonal and communication skills, practice-based learning and improvement, and system-based practice are integrated into the curriculum. By taking this approach, we eliminate the silo method to teaching the ACGME competencies. Instead each is stressed within the context of providing patient-centered care as members of an interprofessional team that emphasizes evidence-based practice, continuous quality improvement, and the use of informatics to provide safe, effective, efficient, equitable and highly satisfying patient care.
